Quick start guide
===

Thank you for joining the iSPEX 2 field validation study within the EU Horizons LandSeaLot project. This guide covers how to set-up your iPhone 13 mini ready to collect data with the iSPEX app.

To get started, you need to implement the following on your phone:

1. **Install via Appstore** (stable)) : https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/ispex/id584360175?l=en-GB

2. **Install Apple TestFlight** (experimental) via: https://developer.apple.com/testflight/. TestFlight is Apples' online service for beta testing and distribution of new IOS applications.

3. **Install Dropbox from the Apple app store** via: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dropbox-cloud-storage-backup/id32763033Dropbox. Dropbox is used for image file uploads when you collect data. Collabortators should use their own Dropbox account (i.e. there is no a central account for the iSPEX 2 field validation project).

4. **Install the iSPEX 2 app from the Appstore** using the following link: https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/ispex/id584360175?l=en-GB

When you first start the iSPEX 2 app, grant all the requested permissions:
- **Camera**: to take pictures of water, sky and the reference card
- **Location/GPS**: to determine position, sun position and correct angles),
- **Photo album**: to store photos.
- **Mobile data**: to enable data collected in the app to be uploaded to servers.

You are now ready to collect iSPEX 2 validation data in the field. You should now refer to the Guide to the iSPEX 2 app https://osf.io/357bk/wiki/Guide%20to%20the%20iSPEX%202%20app/ and measurement protocols https://osf.io/357bk/wiki/Measurement%20protocols/ before collecting data.
